INTERNSHIP

Menu buttons

Students who participate in either the Fall or Spring study abroad programs have the opportunity to become an intern for Linking Lives.

Interns will spend 8 weeks in teams researching, developing, and implementing projects to solve real life challenges of our nonprofit partner organizations in Africa focusing on topics such as:

  • Education

  • Economic Development

  • Environmental Sustainability

  • Women's Empowerment

  • Health

Three recent projects have received funding from the Public Affairs Section of the US Embassy Kigali. One project created a 15-week workshop to teach women decision making, leadership, and entrepreneurship through storytelling. The grant was implemented in collaboration with Fondazione Marcegaglia Onlus. All participants received training and funding to start a small business.

A second project expanded the workshops to include teaching SCRATCH coding to local women, who would then be able to teach these skills in the primary schools. This project was implemented in collaboration with Mabawa (www.mabawa.org), another Linking Lives partner in Nyamyumba, Rwanda.

The third project created a series of workshops for local women in Nyamyumba to teach STEM using LEGOs and was designed for the women to serve as STEM educators at summer camps for local primary and secondary-level students.
